"[E]ducation is perhaps the most important function of state and local governments." Brown v. Board of Education, 347 U.S. 483, 493 (1954). At HenterLaw, we represent students who are threatened with losing that most important key to their future. A large part of our practice is helping college students. In particular, we vigorously defend college students who are facing dismissal or expulsion, including honor charges. Troubles in higher education are only one part of our education practice. One of the original founding principles of HenterLaw was to counsel and help people with disabilities. Unless individuals with disabilities obtain a quality education, they will often be at a disadvantage in the workplace. Congress, in passing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), also realized that students with disabilities have historically been discriminated against and denied a quality education. That is why we also represent children with disabilities when they encounter problems with schools, from preschool through graduate school.
